The inspiration for the painting and name of the painting is derived from Forest Gir. Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is a forest and wildlife sanctuary near Talala Gir in Gujarat, India. It is the only area in Asia, where Asiatic lions reside and are considered one of the most important protected areas in Asia. There was always so much excitement and fear to be able to see Lions free in their natural habitat. With this painting, I am trying to convey both the feelings.
Painting is done decorative style of Indian folk art-Kalamkari. Style of painting is primaryly seen in textile designing.
