Birds, Animals and Blooms from backyards across the country serve as inspiration for this year's 25 Days of Minis painting series.
The flashing bright yellow and black American Goldfinch birds are hard to miss during the spring and summer months. These little finches are state bird of New Jersey, Iowa and Washington.
"American Goldfinch" is painted with influence of Madhubani style of Indian folk art. It is done on 6" x 6" handmade paper with acrylic gouache. All fine details are achieved with 000 brush. Madhubani style is know for its two dimensional imagery and negative space filled with flowers and leaves. It is one of the most colorful styles of folk art that I use in my paintings as it gives me the freedom to use as dynamic of a palette as possible to portray birds and animals.
The painting is mounted on an elegant black wooden floater frame. The color palette for this painting consist of deep green, leaf green, yellows and browns. The painting is been treated with Lascaux Fixative and then coated with gloss Varnish to further ensure protection from UV rays. The painting is signed and wired in the back, and is ready to be hung.
