This Painting is inspired by the change in mood and scenery brought by the change of seasons. I am always in awe of how much the changing environment can influence us, how the Spring weather filling colors in nature determines our day-to-day life, and how the singing of the birds brings joy and hope to our life. This painting is a homage to spring!
Warli is a rudimentary painting style that uses a very basic graphic vocabulary: a circle, a triangle, and a square. The circle and triangle come from the observation of nature; the circle representing sun and moon, and the triangle is derived from mountains and pointed trees. Only the square seems to obey a different logic and appears to be a human invention, indicating sacred enclosures or a piece of land. So the central motive in each ritual painting is a square.
The painting is done on 40" x 16" heavily textured canvas and the characters are painted with Acrylics.
Color palette: The background has various shades of blues, violet, and black to create depth and is painted with white. The sides of the painting are painted with olive acrylic paint. The fine details are achieved with 000 brushes.
