Medium : Gouache On Hand Made Paper
Size : 22" x 27"
This painting is inspired by my walk through picturesque Fairmount Park and its eye-catching old bridges. This particular bridge is located on the left of the trail over Cresheim Creek. The pool of water, birds chirping, occasionally spotting Deer are all very exciting. I tried to portray my feelings through kalamkari- style of Indian Folk Art. I have used Gouache on pre-treated Handmade Paper. Details in the painting are achieved with 000 brush.
Kalamkari is the more decorative style of Indian folk art. Style is know for it's intricacte design and it's very limited color palette: white is exposed paper, painting is drawn with black paint and only one other color than red is used to evoke the painting. I find this style very challenging. It is primarily used as textile designing. Decorative elements of Kalamakri help me transport my landscapes to the fantasy world.
