Twittering calls and spring songs of Dark-eyed Juncos known as Snowbirds announce the warm weather is around the corner. Juncos are called Snowbirds as they appear in flocks during cold months to forge seeds from the ground.
"Snowbirds" is painted with the influence of the Madhubani style of Indian folk art. Madhubani style is known for its two-dimensional imagery and negative space filled with flowers and leaves. It is one of the most colorful styles of folk art that I use in my paintings as it gives me the freedom to use as dynamic of a palette as possible to portray birds and animals.
Painting is done on 12" x 16" handmade paper. It is custom framed in a black wooden frame with acid-free off-white matt.
