Painting "Spring Blossom" is a painting of joy and happiness. Inspired by my morning strolls in the woods near my house, the painting is a reminder of new beginning, crisp fresh air, sunshine, the soound of life, colors, rain and rainbows.
Painting is done keeping the warli style of Indian folk art in mind. This tribal art form is often use to decorate outside walls of their houses in India. Warli is a rudimentary painting style that uses a very basic graphic vocabulary: a circle, a triangle, and a square. The circle and triangle comes from observation of nature; the circle representing sun and moon, the triangle derived from mountains and pointed trees. Only the square seems to obey a different logic and appears to be a human invention, indicating sacred enclosures or a piece of land. I like to use this style to narrate day to day story and also my childhood memories.
Painting is done on heavily textured cradle board. In this particular piece, I have used heavy gesso to build up the stucco-like texture. Characters are painted with Acrylics. The fine details are achieved with 000 brush. Painting is a double coated with Gloss varnish to protect from UV rays. Sides of painting are painted with deep violet. Painting is signed and wired in the back and is ready to hang.
